Bens Homestay is located on the palm-fringed Kothad Islands, in the backwaters of Cochin. Kothad stands in more than two acres of cultivated land, which overlooks the pristine backwaters of Cochin. There’s also more than 50m of waterfront area. The Kuttikal family members have been living here for more than 50 years.

 

Xavier, the family head, and his wife Leelamma, are still actively involved in various activities in the farms. Benny and Anju, the hosts stay in a traditional home, and their family has been engaged in agriculture and prawn farming for over 80 years. Benny is a mechanical engineer and an ardent environment lover. Anju is a homemaker, with excellent culinary skills. Both of them will be happy to offer delicious and mouth-watering traditional Kerala cuisine. There are various activities to be undertaken in over 50 acres of their agricultural land.

 

You can see how prawns are farmed, how paddy is cultivated, and how coconut oil is extracted. If you’re interested in fishing, there are Chinese fishing nets to try your hand at. You can also go on a country boat tour of the backwaters, anytime.
